Love, Bonito launches campaign to fight sexual assault

Love, Bonito launches the #WomenSupportWomen campaign to create a safe place for Indonesian women to discuss their lives. The main topic of this campaign is sexual assault in Indonesia.

The initiative emerged as a response to the issues surrounding the Sexual Violence Eradication Bill (RUU PKS) which doesn’t fully protect women’s rights to protection against sexual violence and places affected women in vulnerable situations without solid solutions in legal defence.

Through this campaign, Bonito seeks to raise public awareness and to empower sexual violence survivors through the platform and donations.

“We are proud to fight for this goal of creating a platform for women to share, support and empower each other. Sexual harassment and assault is a big problem in our society but is often considered taboo or even embarrassing to talk about. Victims often blame themselves with feelings of shame and guilt,” said Country Managing Director of Love, Bonito Indonesia Bianca Belnadia.

In collaboration with Liberty Society, Bonito creates exclusive t-shirts with in-house illustration that is specially designed to highlight the bonds of women from all walks of life. The t-shirts will be available starting 22 October online at www.lovebonito.co.od and Love, Bonito offline store in Grand Indonesia.

Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will be donated to assist Yayasan Pulih in helping women receive psychological counseling and trauma recovery.

“Our vision is to use fashion for freedom. This collaboration has contributed to confidence building and financial empowerment for female refugees that receive training at the House of Freedom,” said CEO of Liberty Society Tamara Dewi Gondo.

“Our hope is that people can be proud of what they wear, knowing that their clothes have a positive impact on others’ lives,” she added.
