New food media Feastin’ releases “Jakarta Noodles Map”

New food media Feastin’ released a food guide booklet titled “Jakarta Noodles Map” this week in collaboration with Geometry Media as its publishing partner. The initiative was part of Feastin’ vision to celebrate the diversity of Indonesian cuisine, particularly noodles. Noodles have a very special bond with the people of Indonesia. The food is often associated with comfort, warmth and simplicity.

This initiative was also supported by Indomie. “Indomie supports the ’Jakarta Noodles Map’ as we all know that Indomie has a very close relationship with Jakarta urban culture, especially among young people,” said Indomie General Manager Lucy Suganda.

“Indomie is an inseparable part of pop culture for young people, especially in Jakarta. Therefore, the map of Warung Makan Indomie or commonly known as Warmindo is included in ‘Jakarta Noodles Map’,” she added.

Feastin’ chose Jakarta as it sees the capital city as a melting pot of various cuisines in Indonesia. In addition, the variety of noodles in Jakarta really reflects such diversity. Jakarta is known as a city where one could find any kind of noodle-based food, from mi Medan and mi Jawa to Indomie that can be enjoyed at Warmindo.

However, with such a great range of options, sometimes it is hard for one to choose where to go. “Jakarta Noodles Map” was launched to address this problem. The map was compiled by an editorial team with excellent culinary capacities, featuring more than 50 different noodle restaurants serving traditional as well as modern noodles.

The methodology used in curating the booklet was by discussing it with food critics and culinary experts, as well as by utilising online review platforms. Each noodle place was visited to ensure consistency and quality of taste, without involving noodle business owners to prevent biases.

“‘Jakarta Noodles Map’ is our way to show our love for Indonesian cuisine, and it starts from the city of Jakarta,” said Feastin’ co-founder Kevindra Soemantri.
