Gojek cuts service fee in Singapore by half

Indonesia’s largest ride-hailing company, Gojek, decided to cut their service fee by half starting from the third quarter of this month at least until the end of 2022. The service fee was cut from 20% to 10%. This means that Singaporean Gojek partners would be able to keep 90% of their earnings instead of 80%.

The decision is taken so that partners would be able to increase their earnings and lessen the impact of the pandemics on them. The company would also pay their partners SGD 3 for every 3 kilometers or more the drivers must go through to pick up their order.

The move is considered a reflection on Gojek’s commitment to build their market share in the country as it is a form of investment. They also reported 117,500 free or discounted rides from and to vaccination sites in Singapore.

Last month, Gojek also announced the plan to permanently raise the fares by SGD 1 to improve partners’ earnings. They also said they will not take this SGD 1 raise, so it means for all order partners take, they would get the SGD 1 extra.

This situation contrasted with the recent happenings in Gojek’s home country. Last week, Gojek partners went on a strike to protest the company’s decision to cut incentive for GoKilat.
