Social e-commerce platform The Shonet is the latest company to succumb to the economic impact of the pandemic. The company posted official announcement to its Instagram account. According to The Shonet founder Elisabeth Kurniawan, the pandemic has severely affected the revenue.

“It’s been a well deserved fight after all. We are proud of what we have built and accomplished. But this surely won’t make us regret or afraid to create another company. Hopefully this can be an encouragement for others; knowing that it is okay to fail,” Elisabeth told TFR.

The Shopping Network or Shonet combines e-commerce with curated editorial content for fashion and beauty products. The content aims to educate the shoppers by providing detailed information about the products. In 2019, The company has raised an undisclosed seed funding round from Maloekoe Ventures.

Before launching The Shonet in 2017, Elisabeth has had an extensive list of working experience in fashion industry. She has worked at Yves Saint Laurent as assistant buyer in New York. After moving back to the country, she worked at Cartier as product executive. She was in-charge of Popbela.com, a lifestyle media under IDN Times.
