Indonesian singer and songwriter Sherina Munaf on 24 December 2020 announced she is working with Studio Ghibli to voice one of the characters on the studio’s latest animated film Earwig and the Witch.

The singer also recorded two songs for the film titled ‘Don’t Disturb Me’ and ‘The World is in My Hand (あたしの世界征服),’ which are included in the album. The songs are officially released on streaming platforms today.

Along with the announcement, Sherina posted images from behind the scene on her Instagram, showing her in the recording room brainstorming with the crews and posing with the film producer Toshio Suzuki and the director Toro Miyazaki. Earwig and the Witch has aired worldwide on 30 December 2020. It is the first animated film from the studio using 3D computer graphic (CG) technique.

This is not the first time Sherina worked with Studio Ghibli. In 2017, she recorded a song titled ‘Niwa no Chigusa (庭の千草)’ for a television commercial project produced by Studio Ghibli. The project is commissioned by Japanese food manufacturer House Food Groups.
