Spotify welcomes Lyodra as EQUAL artist of the month

Indonesian singer Lyodra was chosen as Spotify’s EQUAL artist of the month for this November. She is now featured on a billboard in New York Times Square.

Lyodra will also enjoy organic marketing support from Spotify, helping her music grow significantly by reaching more listeners both locally and globally. According to this week's Spotify Top Indonesia Charts, Lyodra's song “Pesan Terakhir” made it into the top 10 in Indonesia.

Lyodra has made quite a number of achievements. She was nominated for the Best Pop Female Solo Artist category in the Indonesian Music Awards and nominated for the Best Southeast Asian Act category in the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards. She is also the only Indonesian singer that performed at the 2020 National Day Expo in Dubai.

EQUAL is a campaign initiated by Spotify to promote gender equality in the global music industry.

According to a research on women's representation in the music industry by USC Annenberg supported by Spotify, only 1 in 5 female musicians appear on music charts although women play a vital role in streaming platforms and the industry.

The EQUAL campaign aims to overcome this issue by giving women a space to showcase and celebrate their talent.

The campaign comprises playlists spanning female musicians from 50 countries, including Japan, Argentina and the UK, curated by Spotify. Spotify will choose a female artist to represent each country every month.

Throughout 2021, Indonesian female singers including Raisa, Maudy Ayunda, NIKI, Nadin Amizah and Yura Yunita were featured as Spotify EQUAL artist of the month.
