Customer sues KFC for false advertising after receiving an underwhelming burger

Erwin Sandi, a man from Palopo, South Sulawesi sued fast food chain KFC after receiving an underwhelming burger that is far different from what was advertised in the food delivery application. Edwin shared the image of the burger on his Facebook on 15 November, saying that he was “deeply disappointed”. 

“Apparently KFC Indonesia is good at tricking their customers,” Erwin wrote in the caption.

To seek clarification, Erwin tried to contact the KFC branch where he ordered the burger, but to no avail. That’s what prompted him to share his disappointment on his Facebook page. “I tried to call [KFC], but no one answered the phone. This is the second time I received food that didn’t look like the picture,” he told the local media, adding that he cannot believe that a large franchise like KFC sells such unfinished burgers. 

As reported by Pikiran Rakyat, the outlet manager of the KFC branch admitted that it was their fault, as they ran out of vegetables when they received Erwin’s order. He also said that he already told the delivery person to inform Erwin about the missing ingredients, but the delivery person probably did not pass the information to Erwin. 

A local news outlet reported that both parties have agreed to settle the dispute through mediation. Erwin demands that KFC improve its service and to not fire the employees involved in the matter. He also wants KFC to feed orphans every Friday in at least 5 orphanages in Palopo for one month as a token of apology. If KFC fails to comply, Erwin said he will take legal action.
