YouTube Indonesia lists best-performing videos, creators of 2021

YouTube has noticed emerging trends in the YouTube community in Indonesia throughout 2021. This year, YouTube realises that in Indonesia, both viewers and creators continue to adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of video watching as they constantly redefine what to watch, how to watch and reasons why to watch it. 

In 2021, the best-performing videos, content and channels that are considered as attractive for the Indonesian audience are high quality videos that provide a different, authentic and spontaneous experience.

YouTube also notices Indonesian audience’s preference for food-related videos. The most watched video in Indonesia in 2021 is a video uploaded by The Santoso about cooking a whole beef and sharing it to the local community in Bali. 

A mukbang video uploaded by Jessica Jane showing the mukbangers eating a 35kg bakso is in second place. 

In another development, Indonesian musicians and creators continue to win the hearts of Indonesians in the middle of the pandemic by releasing collaboration pieces, such as the virtual collaboration of Tulus and Erwin Gutawa and songs by Denny Caknan, “Satru” (feat Happy Asmara) and “Angel” (feat Cak Peril). The pieces are included in the list of top trending music videos on YouTube Indonesia this year.

Top creators of 2021 are a mix of both fresh, new faces and the familiar ones as they deliver authentic, relatable and engaging content. 

Kopral Jono who posts gaming-related content is one of the top ten creators this year, along with veterans like Frost Diamond, Ria Ricis, Jess No Limit and Deddy Corbuzier.

The top position for Breakout Creator is occupied by beauty entrepreneurs/creators, Candra Dewi & Fika Official channel.

YouTube also introduced its new 60 seconds short-video feature called YouTube Shorts. Klara Tania who usually shares content about folklore as well as tips and inspiring stories occupies the top spot in the category of YouTube Shorts.
