Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas to premiere in Locarno Film Festival 2021

The movie adaptation of Eka Kurniawan’s novel, Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas, will premier at the 74th Locarno Film Festival scheduled for this August. The film will be screened under its international title, Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash. Palari partnered with Singapore’s Phoenix Film and E&W Films and Germany’s Match Factory Production to co-produce the film.

Locarno Film Festival is the one of the longest-running annual film festival that is known as a platform for art house films. The festival is held every August in Locarno, Switzerland.

Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas is one of Eka Kurniawan’s award-winning novels. It follows the life of Ajo Kawir, a teenager-turned-troublemaking thug after a traumatising experience that made him impotent. He raged his way through life with no fear of death due to his impotence until he met Iteung, a female bodyguard who defeated him and the love of his life.

Sekala Niskala (The Seen and The Unseen), a critically-acclaimed film created by Kamila Andini in 2019, will also be part of the festival in the Locarno Open Doors segment.
