Indonesian student Ghozali sold NFT collection of his daily selfies for Rp8 billion
Indonesian student Ghozali became the talk of the town after his NFT collection went viral. The NFT collection consists of 933 selfies he took daily from 2017 to 2021 which he sells in NFT marketplace OpenSea.
In his OpenSea account which he named Ghozali Everyday, he wrote, “I took photos of myself from when I was 18 to 22 years old, it's really a picture of me standing in front of the computer day by day.”
Ghozali priced the NFTs at Rp48,000 each or 0.001ETH when he first launched the collection on 9 January. Since then, the floor price for each NFT in the collection has risen to 0.4 ETH, equivalent to approximately Rp19 million. Currently, the cheapest NFT in Ghozali Everyday collection is priced at 0.28 ETH (Rp13.5 million). With 933 NFTs, the collection is worth Rp 12.6 billion.
On 12 January, in only three days, Ghozali managed to sell 602 NFTs, earning 194 ETH (Rp8 billion). With this achievement, he broke into the top 30 of OpenSea's 24-hour trading volume ranking with an increase of 54764.77%.
“Today [I] sold more than 230+ [of NFTs] and until now I don't understand why you want to buy #NFT photos of me! But I thank you guys [as my] 5 years of effort paid off,” Ghozali tweeted on Tuesday (11 January).
As reported by Crypto Briefing, the NFT collection was initially promoted by Indonesian celebrity chef Arnold Poernomo and sneaker and streetwear entrepreneur Jejouw along with some other members of the decentralised finance community. They even created a Discord forum to help Ghozali earn extra income.
Ghozali stated that he will not be listing any NFT for the next few years. He also warned people not to abuse his photos.
“You can do anything like flipping or whatever, but please don't abuse my photos or my parents will be very disappointed in me. I believe in you guys so please take care of my photos,” he tweeted yesterday (12 January).
