Rapper Nas sells songs streaming royalty rights as NFTs

Legendary hip hop icon Nas announced his partnership with blockchain-powered music cryptocurrency platform Royal to sell the royalty rights to two of his songs “Ultra Black” and “Rare”as NFTs. The NFT sold out in minutes.

Those who purchase and hold the NFTs, called limited digital assets (LDAs), will get a specific percentage of streaming royalty ownership depending on the token that they choose. The LDAs will be available in three tiers: gold, platinum and diamond, each representing different ownership percentages in the songs.

Jesus Calderon’s “Generative Watches” NFT collection of watches that cost more than real-life Rolex

As reported by influential watch magazine Hodinkee, Jesus Calderon, a watch guy who is also a crypto enthusiast and a motion graphics designer, has decided to integrate his differing interest into one by designing and selling virtual watches which he names Generative Watches in the NFT market. 

The Generative Watches currently consists of two main lines, the Rødex Daitona and Rødex Bitmariner, which is inspired by the Rolex Daytona and Submarine. The price varies significantly on a daily basis, but Calderon said he made around $700 per watch on average. One Daitona and one Bitmariner is listed at 20 ETH which is around $48,000. Meanwhile, the cheapest real Rolex Daytona is priced at around $18,000.

Indonesian visual artist Dwiky KA releases NFT

Yogyakarta-based visual artist Dwiky KA on 13 January released an NFT series titled “Called by Anonymous” via NFT platform NFT Foundation. Dwiki is widely known for his wild illustration works and his recent collaboration with Vans. 

The NFT consists of 2D animation works with frame-by-frame 12 fps and is considered as Dwiky KA's visual experimentation about the concept of memory as an organic vehicle for humans to cross space and time to return to the most memorable times in their lives. Upon its release, the NFT was priced at 0.4 ETH or around Rp19 million. It was purchased on 26 January by Benedicto Audi for 6.6 ETH (approximately Rp209 million).  

Anang Hermansyah’s crypto token project  sold out in a minute in pre-sale launch

Anang Hermansyah’s crypto token project which he named ASIX Token sold out in just a minute in its pre-sale launch on 25 January. After receiving a fairly positive response, ASIX Token will be listed in Indonesian crypto asset marketplace Indodax.

Anang said that in the future, he will continue to develop the ASIX Token project in partnership with IDM Token. He also mentioned a plan to develop a NFT marketplace similar to OpenSea.

The Beatles and John Lennon memorabilia to be sold as NFTs

John Lennon's eldest son Julian will sell several pieces of The Beatles and his father’s memorabilia as NFTs. The items will be taken from his own personal collection. The NFT collection includes items such as a handwritten note by Paul McCartney from the song “Hey Jude”, a black cape worn by his father in the film “Help!”, the Afghan coat worn by Lennon in the “The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour” and a Gibson Les Paul guitar that the late artist gifted to him. 

Julian will still own the physical form of the memorabilia, while buyers will get the memorabilia in the form of an audio-visual collectible, with narration by him alongside the imagery of the item. The online auction will begin on 7 February and part of the proceeds from the NFT sale will go to Julian Lennon's White Feather Foundation.
