The Indonesian Comedy Artists Association (PaSKI) on 27 September held the first Indonesian Comedy Awards (Anukom). On the same occasion, PaSKI Head Jarwo Kwat announced the National Comedy Day.

Anukom was broadcast live on TVRI. Jarwo explained that the event is held as a token of appreciation for what Indonesian comedians have contributed to the Indonesian comedy scene. At the event, senior comedian Komeng was named The Best Male Comedian and Rina Nose was named The Best Female Comedian.

Jarwo also made use of the opportunity to announce that the organisation declared 27 September as the National Comedy Day that is to be celebrated annually. He explained that the reason behind the chosen date is because “this is the birthday of the legendary comedian Bing Slamet.”
